“For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this not because we deserved it, but because that was His plan from before the beginning of time—to show us His grace through Christ Jesus.”
2 Timothy 1:9
In the past few weeks of visiting family here in Ecuador, it has been a time to observe, think, reflect, and analyze the reality that so many people are living in, they are overly burdened with work that they do not have time to praise and worship God.
This moves our hearts, knowing the calling that God has made in Christ Jesus, His plan since before the beginning of time, to bring His grace through Jesus. We don’t want anything to let our focus waiver from this calling; It is taking the Good News to people and showing them God’s purpose for their life.
We like the example of the fig tree, with its sweet fruit that represents security, peace and rest. The ministry of the fig tree is to give sweetness, the fruit is delicious. The ministry of Christ is sweetness, through Him, giving enrichment, life, and hope to the weak and all who
suffer different trials.
Right now, in our world more than anything, as people’s lives are being forced to a halt, our prayer is that God will allow His goodness and grace to penetrate the lives that may have once been to busy, too full and too content to look for Him. May we recognize that as His people, we have an opportunity to show the sweetness and goodness of the Father to a broken and needy world. What an honor it is to be called into the plan of God’s ministry of Grace!!
